Initials and dates on linen, and the alphabets of old samplers: it looks tidy from both sides, so it is often used where the back of the work is seen.

1. Work downward in a column, as for a letter. Start from the back, with the first move a short upright on the back along the left side of the square. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки

• Forgetting the repeated arm: the back shows open corners instead of a square, and the top thread on the front changes direction.Забута повторна лінія: на вивороті відкриті кути замість квадрата, а верхня нитка на лиці міняє напрямок.
