How to do a ribbed wheelЯк вишивати ребристе колесо
Spokes wound round with a second thread, back over one and forward under two, until each spoke stands up as a ridge and the wheel looks like a web. Work it in 7 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

Flowers and round accents with a clear ribbed pattern. Add padding under it for more height; a firm thread such as perlé shows the ridges best.

Step by stepКрок за кроком
- Lay the spokes: straight stitches from the rim down into the middle, an odd or even number, as you like. Here there are six, spaced evenly round the circle.Покладіть спиці: прямі стібки від краю кола до центру, парну чи непарну кількість, як вам зручно. Тут їх шість, рівно розставлених по колу.
- Change to a tapestry needle and a second thread, and come up close to the centre between two spokes. Take the needle back over the spoke beside you, then forward under that spoke and the next. Pull the thread close against the centre. Back over the spoke you have just come out beyond, forward under it and the next, and so on round. Never touch the cloth. When the spokes are covered, go down at the rim.Візьміть гобеленову голку й другу нитку та виведіть її біля центру між двома спицями. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- Under one instead of under two: you are weaving, not ribbing, and the ridges disappear.Під однією спицею замість двох: це вже плетіння, а не ребра, і вони зникають.
- A thread that is too thin: the wheel looks bare and ragged. A heavier thread covers it and shows the pattern.Занадто тонка нитка: колесо виглядає голим і рваним. Товща нитка вкриває його й показує візерунок.
