Five straight stitches meeting in the middle and a thread woven round them, over one and under the next, until the spokes vanish into a plump round flower. Work it in 6 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

Roses and round flowers, buttons and berries. It is the quickest raised flower there is, and it hides the cloth completely.

Step by stepКрок за кроком
- Lay the spokes: an odd number, here five. Each one comes up on the rim of a circle and goes down in the very middle. Five is what makes the weave work: with an odd number the thread goes over a spoke on one round and under it on the next.Покладіть спиці: непарну кількість, тут п’ять. - Change to a thread you are happy to see (here a second colour, so you can tell the two apart). Come up close to the centre, between two spokes. Weave round: under one spoke, over the next, without touching the cloth. Let the rounds push each other outward. When no spoke shows, slip the needle under the last round and go down.Візьміть нитку, яка лишиться на виду (тут другий колір, щоб розрізнити дві нитки). Вийдіть біля центру, між двома спицями. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- An even number of spokes: the thread goes over the same spokes every round and no weave forms. Always odd.Парна кількість спиць: нитка щоразу йде над тими самими спицями, і плетиво не виходить. Завжди непарна.
- Pulling tight in the first rounds: the centre puckers. Keep it loose and let the wheel stay full and round.Сильний натяг у перших колах: центр морщиться. Тримайте нитку вільно, щоб колесо лишалося пишним і круглим.
