Step by stepКрок за кроком

  1. Push a pin upright into the cloth at the top of the arch to be: how far it stands from the line sets the height of the scallop. Go along the line from left to right with one stitch whose thread passes round the pin’s head, then bring the needle out just left of the first hole.Устроміть шпильку вертикально в тканину там, де буде верх арки: її відстань від лінії задає висоту фестона.   2. Lead with the eye of the needle, or change to a blunt one. Slide under the arched thread, through the loop of your working thread, and draw it close: one detached buttonhole stitch sitting on the arch, with the cloth untouched.Ведіть голку вушком уперед або візьміть тупу.   3. Go on packing stitches along the arch, close and even. As they near the middle, take the pin out. When the arch is covered, take the needle through to the back at the right-hand end. For a row, set the pin again and repeat. Further rows can be worked over the first.Щільно й рівно кладіть стібки вздовж арки. Коли вони наближатимуться до середини, вийміть шпильку. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки

  • Sharp point first: it splits the arch thread and fixes the arch out of shape. Lead with the eye.Вістрям уперед: воно розщеплює нитку арки й псує її форму. Ведіть голку вушком уперед.
  • Removing the pin too soon: the arch flops and the stitches will not sit evenly on it. Keep it in until the stitches are close to the middle.Шпильку вийнято зарано: арка падає, і стібки нерівно лягають. Тримайте її, поки стібки не наблизяться до середини.
