A livelier version of the ladder for hems and panels. It wants a band wide enough for the threads to lean.

1. Count four threads along the lower edge of the band and come up there. Go back over the four threads and down. Come up in the same place again and pull: the four close together. 3. Now the upper edge, worked the same way but shifted: the first bundle takes only the two threads at the end, and every bundle after it takes two threads from each of the bundles below. Pulled tight, the threads lean to one side and then the other. The threads in the diagram stay straight so you can count them. On the cloth they lean under the pull and form the zigzag.

Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки

• A count of threads not divisible by four: the last half-bundle has no partner. Plan the band before you draw it.Кількість ниток не ділиться на чотири: останній напівпучок не має пари. Сплануйте смугу до висмикування.
