Rows of upright stitches that climb and fall in sharp peaks, each row a new shade of the same colour, so the canvas seems to burn. Each stitch goes over four threads and sits two threads off its neighbour. Work it in 14 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

What it is used forЗастосування
Whole surfaces, such as chair seats and backs. The name comes from flame-stitched chairs in the Bargello palace in Florence. The Florentine stitch page shows one short slope; this page is how a whole field of it is laid, one row at a time.

- The first row sets the whole design, so count it carefully. Come up, go over four threads straight upward and go down. The next stitch stands right beside it and starts two threads higher than the one before.Перший ряд задає весь візерунок, тому рахуйте уважно. - Past the peak, each stitch starts two threads lower than the one before: the row comes down the far side. Change how many stitches climb before turning and the peaks grow taller or wider. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- A miscount in the first row. Every later row copies it, so the slip travels through the whole piece. Check the first row against the chart before you change colour.Помилка в рахунку в першому ряду.
