How to do a stem stitchЯк вишивати стебловий шов
Stitches overlap each other by half and the line twists into a fine rope. The working thread is always held to one side — which side decides the way the rope turns, and that is the only thing separating stem stitch from outline stitch. Work it in 3 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.
Стібки заходять один на одного наполовину, і лінія скручується в тоненький канатик. - The first stitch runs forward over two cells.Перший стібок — уперед на дві клітинки.
- The needle comes up at the midpoint of the last stitch and runs forward two cells again. Half of every stitch always lies over half of the one before.Голка виходить на середині попереднього стібка й іде знову вперед на дві клітинки. Половина стібка завжди лежить поверх половини попереднього.
- And so on. Keep the working thread below the line throughout — otherwise the rope twists the other way.Так само й далі. Тримайте робочу нитку весь час нижче лінії — інакше канатик перекрутиться в інший бік.
Done. An even, dense line that follows a curve willingly — which is why stems are worked with it.
