A line of stem stitch with a second thread wound along it, which closes the rope into a smooth, slightly raised cord. Work it in 6 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

Step by stepКрок за кроком
- Work the whole line in stem stitch: forward a stitch, back up halfway, the thread on the same side all the way.Вишийте всю лінію стебловим швом: уперед на стібок, назад до середини, нитка весь час з одного боку.
- Bring a second thread up at one end of the line. Slide the needle under each stem stitch in turn, always in the same direction, without touching the cloth. Use a tapestry needle so it cannot split the stitches. Go down at the far end, and only there.Другу нитку виведіть на одному кінці лінії. Заводьте голку під кожен стібок по черзі, завжди в одному напрямку, не торкаючись тканини. Беріть гобеленову голку, щоб не розщепити стібки. На виворіт виводьте її лише в кінці лінії.
Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- Pulling the whipping tight: the line shrinks and the cloth gathers along it. Let each turn lie snug on top.Сильно затягнуте обвивання: лінія стискається, а тканина збирається вздовж неї. Кожен виток хай лежить щільно, але вільно.
- Catching the cloth with a sharp needle, which locks the wrap in place and leaves a dent.Гостра голка зачіпає тканину: виток застрягає й лишає ямку.
