How to do wave stitch in smockingЯк вишивати хвилю в смокінгу
A level stitch at the top, a slanted stitch down, a level stitch at the bottom, a slanted stitch up: a row of zigzags over the pleats. Work it in 9 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.

Step by stepКрок за кроком
- Start with a top closure: come up in the valley before the first pleat and take the next pleat, the thread above the needle, at the top line. It is a plain up cable.Почніть із верхнього замикання: виведіть голку в западині перед першою складкою й візьміть наступну складку, нитка над голкою, на верхній лінії. Це звичайний верхній канатик.
- Go down to the bottom line, one pleat along, and take that pleat with the thread above the needle. That long slant is the travelling stitch.Спустіться до нижньої лінії, на одну складку далі, і візьміть цю складку, нитка над голкою. Цей довгий скіс — проміжний стібок.
- Bottom closure: a down cable on the next pleat, on the bottom line, with the thread below the needle. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- The thread on the wrong side of the needle during a travelling stitch: it twists against the slant and looks rough. Above going down, below going up.Нитка не з того боку голки під час проміжного стібка: вона перекручується проти скосу й виглядає грубо. Над голкою вниз, під голкою вгору.
- Missing a closure at the top or the bottom: the points look sharp and uneven. Every turn gets its level stitch.Пропущене замикання вгорі чи внизу: вістря виглядають різко й нерівно. Кожен поворот має свій рівний стібок.
