Rich decorative bands on even-weave cloth or between two marked lines. It is traditional on Koochi and Baluch garments, and it was used for fillings and borders in 15th-century Swiss work.

3. With a tapestry needle and the interlacing thread, come up just below the first crossing in the middle of the band. Along the top half, left to right, the order repeats: going up, over a stitch and under the next; round the top crossing, over and then under; going down, over a stitch, under your own thread and under the next stitch. At the far end, circle the last crossing in the middle and come back along the bottom half, right to left. Going down: over a stitch, under your own thread, under the next stitch. Round the bottom crossing: over, then under. Going up: over a stitch, under your own thread, over your own thread, under the next stitch. Circle the first crossing and go down where you started. Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки

• A foundation worked as two plain rows of herringbone laid one over the other.
