How to do laced herringbone stitchЯк вишивати шнуровану ялинку
A second thread winding along a row of herringbone, under a leg, over a crossing and under the next leg, in a wave down the middle of the band. Work it in 7 passes: bring the needle up at each odd number and down at the even number after it.
Друга нитка в’ється вздовж ряду ялинки, під один стібок, над перехрестям і під наступний стібок, хвилею посередині смуги. Усього 7 стібків: виводьте голку на лицевий бік у непарному номері й уводьте в наступному парному.

Step by stepКрок за кроком
- Work a row of herringbone with plenty of room in the crossings.Вишийте ряд ялинки, лишаючи достатньо місця в перехрестях.
- Take a tapestry needle and travel rightward, starting the lacing thread at the lower left corner. Go under the first leg, over the top crossing and under the next leg, then over the bottom crossing and under the next leg. The thread lies in a soft S round each leg. Do not pierce the cloth or split the herringbone. At the end of the row, go down.Беріть гобеленову голку, працюйте зліва направо. Виведіть нитку внизу ліворуч. Пройдіть під першим стібком, над верхнім перехрестям і під наступним стібком, тоді над нижнім перехрестям і під наступним стібком. Нитка лягає м’якою літерою S навколо кожного стібка. Не проколюйте тканину й не розщеплюйте ялинку. Наприкінці ряду виведіть на виворіт.
Tips and common mistakesПоради й типові помилки
- Passing under the crossings rather than over: the wave disappears into the band and the second colour hardly shows.Нитка йде під перехрестями, а не над ними: хвиля ховається в смузі, і другого кольору майже не видно.
- A stiff tug at each turn, which pulls the crossings together. Leave the wave soft.Різкий ривок на кожному повороті стягує перехрестя. Лишайте хвилю м’якою.
